As Microsoft has already confirmed the existence of this UI, the company has revealed it fully today. Terry Myerson, Executive Vice President of Windows and Devices, wrote about Fluent Design in blog post. He says the UI will offer “intuitive, harmonious, responsive and inclusive cross-device experiences and interactions” for users. As this is Build, Microsoft is also showing what Fluent Design can do for developers. Specifically, the UI allows dev’s to offer more engaging experiences that will function intuitively across devices....

Azure AD Identity Protection Approval Workflow Details For many, the new features will be worth the price. The approval workflow offers a redesigned interface where users can request privileges for network roles. Those requests then go through to an administrator who can manage them via the Azure portal. They can also set up various ways for users to request role approval. It supports two-factor authentication, as well as email notifications when the admin approves a role....

Changes were made to licensing alongside the launch of Azure Dedicated Host, a new physical server hosted on Azure that can only be used by one customer. Microsoft says the server is for running Azure virtual machines. Two dedicated host specifications are available. Type 1 Azure Dedicated Host is based on a 2.3GHz Intel Xeon E5-2673 v4 (Broadwell), has 64 vCPUs (Virtual CPUs), and costs $4.055 or $4.492 per hour depending on RAM (256GB or 448GB)....

There is a lot of bleeding edge tech in HoloLens, so for now the compromise is a headset that looks bulky but brings performance. As generations of the AR product pass, Microsoft wants to improve the size. Naturally the company wants the device to become as wearable as possible. Certainly, the end goal is to have a headset that can be worn like a regular pair of glasses. We are some way off that, but Microsoft is making breakthroughs towards that vision....

Targets who engage with the files could have their data stolen, including personal information. The threat actors are targeting Microsoft compiles HTML help (CHM) files. While these are not widely used by the company anymore, they are still on Windows systems to give help documents for the platform. Vidar is a malware that mimics CHM files. Attackers send the package through an email, so there is a phishing component to this threat too....

This was first announced last month at Samsung’s 2020 Unpacked event. Specifically, Galaxy phone users can stream Android apps to their Windows 10 PC. Samsung has been perhaps the biggest ally to Microsoft as the company has sought connection with Android. Microsoft has said Minecraft developer Mojang has extended Minecraft Education Edition, making it available to all students and educators. However, to be eligible you will need to have a Microsoft 365 account but the good news is the education-focused version of the game is now free. Educators can get underway with the free tool by heading to a Mojang website to fill out this form and apply for expanded access....

Noted Minecraft modders Floo Network are developing a special version of Hogwarts within the game. That means Harry, Ron and friends will be playable in a realized Hogwarts within the trademark blocky style of Minecraft. Floo Network has published a YouTube video (below) that shows the extent of their creation. As you can see in the clip, the team put in some painstaking work to get tiny details correct. It is worth noting, Hogwarts is not the only location available....

Unfortunately, the Java version of Minecraft won’t be receiving the update just yet. Mojang says it will be ‘coming soon’, alongside Aquatic’s second part. Xbox 360 users will also have to wait, and this will be the last update they get. Instead, Microsoft will be focusing on the new Bedrock Engine version of Minecraft. It supports improved graphics, cross-platform play, VR, and more. Last-gen consoles make up just 5% of the player base, so the move makes sense....

Net Neutrality laws meant internet service providers were mandated to use all internet data the same. It was forbidden to differentiate between content, website, platform, app, user, or equipment, such as through throttling data. President Donald Trump led the repeal of the law, with the FCC enforcing the decision. Coffman’s proposed 21st Century Internet Act has been introduced to the House of Representatives. The bill would set a standard set of principles around the concept of net neutrality, effectively removing the FCC’s power....

Certainly, owners of several setups and gaming PCs have discussed their experiences with the problem online. According to Reddit user reggie_gakil (via Windows Central), their power adapter melted when using the Nvidia RTX 4090. In images to accompany the report, reggie_gakil shows the damage is more focused in the upper left corner of the connector. However, with the stress of bi-annual updates, the cracks are starting to show. Since then, users have found themselves unable to install the game unless they purchase it. Now, it seems the physical disc for Fallout 76 on Xbox One is essentially pointless. A screenshot by Reddit user willapod reveals just 247 MB of its 51 GB install comes from the disk. That’s bad news for players hoping to play on the day of release, especially those who chose a physical copy purposefully due to a slow connection....
